The Cemefi and the Private Assistance Board (JAP) receive the Technical Secretariat of the Planavol
The National Platform for Voluntary Action (Planavol) is an initiative composed of more than 40 organizations from the public and private sectors, civil society organizations and academia, whose mission is to promote citizen participation in volunteer programs. On August 7, the Planavol celebrated its third anniversary and was formally appointed to the new Technical Secretariat that will operate it during the 2018-2020 period.
The event was attended by the representatives of each of the organizations that make up this initiative, which emerged in 2016 as a response to the desire to integrate the public, private, academic and civil society sectors, to promote and disseminate volunteer projects performed in México.
During the meeting, the National Institute of Social Development (Indesol) delivered the Technical Secretariat of the Planavol to the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and the Private Assistance Board (JAP) of México City.
Leticia Montemayor Medina, Chief Officer of Indesol, highlighted the achievements of the Planavol during the last three years, among which the promotion of the Satellite Account of Nonprofit Institutions, of INEGI, and the measurement of voluntary work.
For his part, Jorge Villalobos Grzybowicz, Executive President of Cemefi, said that social projects have contributed significantly to the development of México in the last 30 years, and noted the importance of the commitment and joint coordination between public institutions and civil society for the progress of the initiatives of the platform.
Finally, Carlos Madrid Varela, President of the Private Assistance Board (JAP) of México City, said that "when different actors, such as government, civil society, companies and universities come together, the solutions in favor of different priority attention groups, arrive faster and have greater impact."
In addition, the presentation of the new website of the Planavol was carried out, a portal in which volunteers can connect, bond, train and participate in social impact projects. Additionally, they can obtain information on successful volunteer models in México and the world.
During the closing of the event, a recognition was given to the organizations that make up the platform, for their work in the fields of development and dissemination of social actions and volunteering.
